Internal Medicine Professor, Medical Director of Harborview International Medicine Clinic
Dr. Jackson has been a service provider to King County’s refugee and immigrant communities for 30 years. He is a General Internist with graduate training in anthropology and public health and a Professor of Medicine at the University of Washington School of Medicine. He provides clinical care at Harborview Medical Center, where he is interested in the challenges of providing integrated, culturally tailored health information and health care to refugee and immigrant communities. He knows that overcoming language barriers and recognizing cultural expressions of illness are only part of the complex work required to deliver high-quality health services to patients with limited English proficiency and low health literacy.
